My goodness. I can hardly believe it's been so long since I've posted. So much has happened. So much blogworthy goodness that I find myself sitting here with absolutely...nothing...to...say.
I mean we have a new president, the economy continues to suck, I still stay up way too late and drink too much coffee.
Guitar Hero is me and The Kid's new obsession...and I think I may wanna move to Texas.
While reminiscing about games of the 70s, I recently became angry about how the Spirograph always included designs that the average 10 year old has no hope of ever duplicating. (Stupid football shaped gears....and those cheap ass pens!) Don't even get me started on the Slinky!
Rock hits of the 70s and 80s are my current playlist (courtesy of the Guitar Hero thang) and now that the election is over I can't tell you the last time I actually sat and watched a television program.
Judging from my TBR pile, it will take me 20 years to reach the bottom of it...if I don't buy another book for 20 years. Well, that's not gonna happen and I absolutely love reading and writing reviews so I don't let that stress me much.
It's almost mid-February...and my Christmas tree is still up. Yeah, I know.
Judging from a year ago, so much is different yet so much is the same. But I'm still here and it seems that for now so is dear LJ.
So tell me...what's going on in your world?

Our Christmas trees are down, but the outside Christmas lights are still up, as well as several Christmas decorative things here in the house. It is my goal to have them down before Valentine's. (Which probably means I'll spend Friday night frantically trying to take them all down.) :p
Yes! Move to Texas! I'm moving to Texas in January next year. I'm SO excited! :) I'm specifically moving to Austin, and I can't wait to be away from this rainy doom-n-gloom here in Portland. :D
I'm looking at Austin as well! I've been checking some of the job listings off and on and the more I think about it the more I want to make it happen.
I'm not thrilled at the prospect of moving to a red state...but I think Austin has the kind of balance of lifestyle and culture that I'm looking for these days.
And ZOMG! I play Guitar Hero and Rock Band on medium too! I play guitar and right now I'm working my way through the local tour! Are you on Wii, Xbox, or PS3?
Wow, it was great. I really loved it. It's small enough that you can easily get around it, (as opposed to Houston), but large enough that there's tons of stuff to do.
And yeah, at first, I was apprehensive about moving to a red state, too. (I've lived in Ohio, Michigan, Connecticut, Hawaii, California, and now I'm in Oregon.) Texas would definitely be the reddest state I've ever lived in. However, Austin's definitely got a more liberal vibe to it.
And the weather in Austin is SOOOOOO much better than Portland. :D
And if you *do* move to Austin, that's awesome, cuz then I'll know someone else, too, from LJ.
As for Guitar Hero/Rock Band, I'm playing it on PS3. I'm getting ready to finally tackle the hard level. (Holy crap, have fun beating the last few songs on the medium level - my poor arms/fingers feel like I have severe carpal tunnel!) For some reason, adding the 5th key always screws me up, so trying to incorporate that in, and not FAIL, is gonna be a boat load of fun. ;)
I play on Wii, and I'm just waiting for the first wave of Guitar Hero carpal tunnel injuries to start rolling in!
And ditto on that blasted orange key! Hot for Teacher on world tour almost gave me a seizure!
tsk...tsk....tsk
I know. I'll own that. It just hasn't been a priority ya know?
Plus...it's so pretty. =)
Maybe replace it with another type of decor?
I'm definitely taking it down this weekend!
