Moon Obsession

  • Dec. 10th, 2008 at 8:04 PM
snowy
I am totally obsessed with the moon.

Not to sound "new-agey" or weird for the sake of being weird in some sort of lame attempt to be hip or cool, but I truly love to gaze upon the moon.  It doesn't even have to be a full moon.  I just need to see it.

At night before I go to bed, I always look outside my window and try to locate the moon.  I don't know why but the sight of it soothes me somehow and I feel calm about going to sleep.  I don't like nights when the moon isn't visible and I get annoyed when treelines or houses  block my view.

Funny thing is, I don't follow the moon cycles or anything.  I don't try to tie my moods into the phases of the moon or track it for any advanced astrological purposes.  I just like the comfort of looking up and seeing it bright in the sky...then again, it could be a Pisces/Water Sign thing.  Who knows?

It's strange, I know...but it's true and I'm sharing.

Make of it what you will.

Any other moon fans out there?

I know what you mean. Maybe it is a Pisces thing. The tides affect us!

No, I totally get what you mean. I can't articulate it, but yes.

Here in Michigan, it is really beautiful tonight. I wonder if the cold air has something to do with it.

It looks like there's a rainbow ring around and it's really bright. I tried to take a picture, but you can't capture that kind of night effect with a camera phone. :-(

I am a big moon fan myself and I am a Scorpio.

Once I was tripping on acid with a bunch of girlfriends in upstate NY and we did a whole "drawing down the moon" pagan ceremony. It was probably the drugs but we felt really mystically connected to it. It also seemed it was getting bigger and closer to us.

I have some other great moon memories, too. Like in Florida on NYE 99/00 it looked like a sliver of happy face in the sky.

lol..drugs make you brave, huh?

No, but seriously I love to be outside under the visible moon. I can't explain it, but it's one of my favorite things.

I'll have to start keeping track of my great moon memories. :-)

Yep I get a similar feeling when I gaze @ the moon. It *is* really soothing...like its sole purpose is to create a calming effect.

It really does feel that way, no?

Now that it gets dark early, some days when I leave work and I've had a rough day...I'll look up and see the moon and it makes me smile regardless.

One day you're going to look up and it's going to fall on you.

Yay!

I knew the flist should be good for at least one lycanthrope crack!

LOL!

Nope, no shapeshifting abilities have manifested as of yet...unless you wanna count weight fluctuations over the years.

Thanks for not disappointing me. ;-)

I love the moon. One of the most amazing nights of my life was spent swimming in the ocean under a full moon... I'm lucky to be alive, because nearby there was a shark attack.

Did you know, tonight's full moon is supposed ot be the biggest this year?

No way!

This week the moon has been exceptionally brilliant, but tonight would be the night that we are getting snow therefore no visible moon tonight.

:-(

Just a last layer of shit to spread on an otherwise craptacular week.

Here's hoping you can enjoy the moon view from your part of the world. =)
